Maybe Next Year?
We'll see if we get legislative language this week from Democrats in the House, and at least the outlines of a final deal in the Senate.
The clock is ticking, even for Democrats to hold a vote in the House before Thanksgiving.
There are only four work weeks until the weekend before Thanksgiving week, with a mini-break for Veteran's Day sandwiched in there on November 11.
With all of the behind the scenes work that has to go on, four weeks might barely be enough time for the House to vote.
One interesting note from recent days about the Senate debate was how Sen. Olympia Snowe left open the idea that the Semate might not vote until NEXT year.
Since Democrats might need Snowe's vote, murmurings like that from her cannot simply be ignored.
In the Finance Committee debate, she repeatedly made a point of talking about process, and that any move to short circuit the debate and amendment process would be viewed negatively by her.
Note to Harry Reid - put the bum rush on Olympia Snowe at your own risk.
