House Health Care
Democrats won the first test vote in the U.S. House on health care reform, approving the rule providing for debate on the legislation by a vote of 242-192.
Supporters of the bill on the Democratic side seem more confident of final approval now than they did at 9am when the House came into session today.
That's mainly because of the deal that was cut on abortion by Speaker Nancy Pelosi. The agreement allows for a vote on a provision that would ban all federal funding for abortion services in the health reform effort.
If that amendment is approved - and some pro-choice Democrats are fighting hard against it - then that should pave the way for passage of the bill late tonight.
By my count at 2:10 pm, there are at least 25 Democrats who will vote against this bill. 41 no votes would be needed to defeat it.

They can write our Checks-Warren Buffett and Soros in Chicago can write us a check a Million a piece. That will share the wealth the Democrats want to share with all of us.
