What others are saying

  • Don't be fooled
Would the Bill have passed if the Stupac amendment was not approved? No, however they WILL remove it when it goes to conference with the Senate version!!! So this was just political cover.

This will be the same situation when the Senate removes the "public" option and get Lieberman and others to vote for it, then it will get added back in durning conference with House.... Don't be fooled...
  • Blue Dog Dems
Actually, since this is the House we're talking about, every single member is up for re-election in 2010. I find it interesting that Dennis Kucinich, the boy blunder that bankrupted the city of Cleveland when he was Mayor, voted against this dog squeeze of a bill.
  • Something fishy...
Yes, it is extremely odd that 99% of the dems who voted no are up for re-election.

Yes, it is extremely odd that 99% of the dems that voted no are up for re-election.
  • Cao
I don't agree with Cao - principle first. I want to say I watched the vote, and he waited until it didn't matter anymore if he voted for it. I'd like to believe that if it came down to his vote, he'd have done the right thing... He's won 'Cold Cash' Jefferson's district, and he did what ALL politicians do - he covered his own hide.
  • "No" Vote Dems
Thanks for the list Jamie. I am preparing a thank you note for them as we speak. They need reinforcement for the choice to support the people and not a party of complete ignorance and desire for complete government control of our lives.
  • Stupac
Would the Bill have passed if the Stupac amendment was not approved? Sneaky, huh...
  • Now what?
    Thanks Jamie. Now what?
  • Housee vote
Thanks...I was glad to learn my rep in congress voted NO! He might get reelected.
  • Interesting list
It is interesting to note that every one of these Dems, with the exception of Boccieri, VA is up for re-elction in 2010. Are they actually listening to their constituents or did they get a "just in case" pass from Nancy. I wonder if they are in swing districts.
  • Thanks
Many thanks for the good work reporting, Jamie. Many thanks also to the few Dems that voted no. Unfortunately I have no confidence that should the GOP return to power that they have the gumption to reverse it.
  • Health Care bill
Thanks, Jaimie, for keeping us posted on the late night shenanigans of the Dems!I hope Louisiana has the good sense to vote Rep. Cao out!
  • Dem NO Votes
I have to applaud those Democtats that voted no. We all should. As for the 1 Rino that voted yes, I hope he is up for reelection in 2010 and I hope the responsible clear thinking voters remember him for what he pretends to be.
  • Thnks
Thanks for the Tweet play-by-play last night Jamie. Greatly appreciated. Now turn off all communication devices and spend some time with your family. God bless.
  • Health Care Vote
At least some Democrats seemed to have a conscience and did the right thing. I'm proud of Suzanne Kosmos from Florida for voting against the bill.
  • Health care Bill
Wonder what Cao got to sell his soul to vote yes? Thanks Jamie you do a GREAT job!!!
  • Which Reps Did Pelosi Let Off the Hook?
The vote was so close, what analysis can be done to show which Dems voted their conscious vs. the ones that were allowed to vote NO by Pelosi? On the other hand, does it even matter??
  • Thank you!
I appreciate all of the updates- I couldn't watch anymore and went to bed. This list is very helpful, and I especially note the absence of Perriello in VA.
  • Dedication
I've been following your blog/tweets on all of this.

Thank you for all of your hard work.
  • I've been following @jamiedupree all day today. I want to thank him for all of the work he does for us up there on the hill. I also want to thank the 39 members of the democratic party that voted 'no' for this sweeping piece of legislation.
  • HCR
    A) Really enjoyed seeing you, Mr. Boorz, Mr Howard and Mrs Compton in Orlando!
    B) This is just more nails into the Constitution.

Seriously though: I saw my Dr. on Thursday. His magic pills weren't fixing the problem which means it could be a life-threatening issue. He wanted me to have an ultrasound and some CT scans. You know what? Here in the terrible US of A, I had the ultrasound and the CT scans completed by Thursday (the same day) evening. Guess now I will "just die" with the Dem plan because I will have to wait 6 months to have a half-assed, disinterested job done next time I need a scan.
The simple solution was to make Congress do the job that it was supposed to do all along: Prevent impediments to interstate commerce by forcing the states to not limit competition from out of state insurers.
If Congress were restricted to Constitutional confines, there would be so much money from such a productive country that no indigent would go without someone to take care of his health problems for free (within reason, of course).

Take care & keep up the great job!
  • Kucinich votes against bill
Wonder what the world today would be like if Rep. Kucinich, with "the strongest liberal perspective" had won the Dem nod and the White House?
  • its happened
ok everyone..take your favorite drink..raise your glass and make a toast to freedom..you will be missed
  • Thanks Jamie for all your hard work. Maybe Va. elections showed my Rep. Boucher, something...MAYBE!
  • Dems who voted NO
I am keeping this list handy for the future. I appreciate their attempt to block this bill. I will let them know,.
  • Now I think the whole World has gone crazy.
