Rolling the Dice
Democratic leaders in the House have decided to roll the dice today on health care reform, approving a framework for debate that is all but certain to anger female pro-choice members, because it allows for a vote on a controversial provision related to abortion.
After 1am on Saturday, the House Rules Committee approved a rule - the structure for the health care debate - that would allow for a separate vote on a provision backed by pro-life Democrats, who want a flat out ban on any federal money going to abortion under this new health reform effort.
That is hotly opposed by pro-choice Democrats.
Speaker Nancy Pelosi allowed the vote for a simple reason - she needs the votes of those pro-life Democrats, if she's going to get this health reform bill approved.
This raises the question of whether women Democratic lawmakers will balk, and threaten to vote against the rule and/or the bill.

President Obama will meet with House Democrats late on Saturday morning, as he urges Democrats to stick together.
Frankly, I'm not sure how this is going to come out. I can see it going down in flames for a variety of reasons, that's for sure.
Also, Democrats tweaked their bill again late on Friday night, releasing an additional five pages of changes to their bill.
Safe to say, there is not a "full" bill available online at this point in time. If there is, please let me know where you found it.
Check back for updates on this Saturday.
What others are saying
- We need to know about what they are all up toIs it true the Republicans rolled out an actual plan of their own? I see no coverage if its true. If so, how many pages? Did they read it? Did you read it? What's in it in detail? How much does it cost? How will they pay for it? Where will the money come from? Will it decrease or increase the deficit?
