Normally, most of us in the Lower 48 wouldn't really care too much about the fact that the sitting Governor of Puerto Rico was charged Thursday with 19 counts of wrongdoing in a campaign finance investigation.

The political spin was fast and furious and the numbers rolled in Tuesday night from Rhode Island, Vermont, Ohio and Texas, especially when it came to whether you should pay attention to who won what state, or the number of delegates won.

The decision of Rep. David Scott (D-GA) to switch from being a superdelegate for Hillary Clinton to a backer of Barack Obama is indicative of the battle going on inside the black community right now over this election.

Obama and McCain Sweep Beltway Primaries

It was a big night for both Barack Obama and John McCain as they swept the three primaries in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

For Obama, the results extended his winning streak to eight straight contests, as he finally wakes up this morning in the lead in delegates in the Democratic race for President, no matter which news organization is totaling up the delegate count.

168 delegates are at stake for the Democrats again today, with the usual proportional formula for handing out delegates, based on who wins Congressional districts and the statewide vote.

Realistically, it's hard to see Barack Obama losing the Washington, D.C. primary with the overwhelming black vote there. D.C. has 15 delegates, which will be allocated based on voting in the city's 8 wards and overall.
