In a classic, election year hearing, Democrats led the way Tuesday in giving a tongue-lashing to executives of five major oil companies, denouncing their high profits and vowing to get rid of $18 billion in special exploration tax breaks for the industry.

Normally, most of us in the Lower 48 wouldn't really care too much about the fact that the sitting Governor of Puerto Rico was charged Thursday with 19 counts of wrongdoing in a campaign finance investigation.

A few months ago, I would have figured that the days leading up to the five year anniversary of the start of the current Iraq War would have been filled with news about Iraq. Instead, Iraq has been a bit player on the newscasts for the most part.

Obama Wins Final March '08 Primary

Righting the ship after last week's setbacks in three March 4th primary states, Barack Obama last night won the Mississippi Primary as expected, going out on a high note as the Democratic race heads into a six week primary and caucus vacuum.

The latest trial ballon being floated about a new primary for the state of Florida is a mail-in primary, which would hold down the cost and basically be like administering an election by absentee ballot

The polls are close in Ohio and Texas, the two key states of the four that vote on Tuesday March 4th. The outcome could well end this race quickly in the favor of Barack Obama, or plunge the Democrats into a lengthy battle that will extend into May, it not the Summer of 2008.

Yes, there will be some twists and turns most likely in coming days in the Democratic race for President, but barring a major rush by Democratic leaders to Barack Obama, the pivotal showdown in the race between Obama and Hillary Clinton is going to take place on March 4th in Texas, Ohio, Rhode Island and Vermont.

It is always amazing to see the transformation of a campaign from the first time you saw it in Iowa or New Hampshire to a major event later in the primary season.

Barack Obama was big in Iowa and he was big in New Hampshire, but his visit to the University of Maryland Comcast Center again demonstrates that he doesn't draw hundreds of people, he draws thousands.
