Georgia Football Makes Final Preparations For Clash With Kentucky
ATHENS, Ga. The University of Georgia football team made final preparations for its upcoming Southeastern Conference Eastern Division clash with Kentucky by working out for 90-minutes at the Woodruff Practice Fields on Thursday. Georgia started the dress rehearsal at approximately 6:40 p.m., which is a little over an hour and a half later than the Bulldogs' normal Thursday routine. Head coach Mark Richt explained that the practice schedule was altered to accommodate a Swahili class function in which several players were involved. "We had probably up to as many as 20 players involved in the class," Richt stated. "They had an event this afternoon, and that's why we actually met with our players this morning at 6:20 and finished about 7:30 a.m. just in time for them to go to class or study hall. We waited until the event was over and gave them about an hour to make sure they could eat and get dressed."...READ MORE | ![]() Dawgs At Practice |

Houts Leads Lady Bulldogs Over UTC In Homecoming
![]() Ashley Houts | CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- With Georgia trailing by six points and less than a minute left in the first half, Ashley Houts decided to take control of her homecoming game at Chattanooga. The Trenton, Ga., native score 13 straight points for the Lady Bulldogs in a 74-57 victory. Houts knocked down a three-pointer to cut UTC's lead in half before the intermission and then scored 10 points in the first 3:24 of the second period to give the Lady Bulldogs a 43-39 lead they would never relinquish. "She's a senior. She's our leader. She's our point guard," Andy Landers said. "She did exactly what she's supposed to do. The neat thing about it was that it sparked our other players. They saw her doing that and all of a sudden Porsha (Phiilips) is knocking down balls on defense and 'JJ' hit some big shots. Everyone fed off each other but that started with Ashley."...READ MORE |

Georgia Edged by Wofford, 60-57
ATHENS----The Georgia basketball team suffered its first defeat of the season tonight, falling to the Wofford Terriers, 60-57. It was an exciting game with an exciting finish, but Dustin Wares three-point attempt to tie the ball game at 60 as time expired fell short. The loss drops the Dogs record to 1-1 on the season (0-0 Southeastern Conference). "It was a hard fought game," said Georgia head coach Mark Fox. "You have to give Wofford credit. We made a lot of mental errors early that we have not made in practice. We have to be mature enough and gain some experience so that we can relax and stay connected mentally to do what we are trying to do." Georgia found itself down five with 1:08 left in the game, but sophomore guard Travis Leslie cut that deficit to two as he made a three pointer with 18 seconds on the clock. Down 58-56, the Bulldogs staunch inbound defense forced a Wofford five-second violation turnover, and Georgia found was down two and with possession....READ MORE | ![]() Travis Leslie |

King rallies Georgia past Auburn 31-24
![]() Caleb King | ATHENS, Ga. (AP) Bacarri Rambo knocked the ball away and knocked himself out. The fearless lick right at the goal line showed Georgia hasn't given up on this disappointing season. Caleb King ran for a pair of fourth-quarter touchdowns, but the Bulldogs needed Rambo's game-saving hit to hold on Saturday night for a 31-24 win over Auburn, their fourth straight triumph in the Deep South's oldest rivalry. ``That was the play of the game,'' said Georgia cornerback Brandon Boykin, who had a good look at the redshirt freshman's hit on Mario Fannin. ``He sacrificed his body for our team. That's a big reason we came out victorious.''...READ MORE |
