Haleigh L. was diagnosed with Sickle Cell Disease Hemoglobin SS when she was 18 months old.

Haleigh is presently being treated at CHOA at Scottish Rite since day one. She sees the team at the Aflac Cancer Center. Her Hematologist is Dr. Beatrice Files and Dr. Elyse.

Haleigh's favorite nurse is Holly. She also loves Joann, Jennifer and all the ladies on 3N.

She visits the Aflac Cancer Center once a month for a "Hydrea" check. She is currently on Hydroxyurea to help cure the pain crises and chest syndromes.

Haleigh loves the fact that each time she visits or is admitted, she sees the same faces! It really makes a difference to her to know that each one knows her and is especially caring.

Haleigh has made a few friends at the Aflac Cancer Center, it is important to know that there are other children dealing and coping with Sickle Cell Disease, and is also receiving OUTSTANDING care from the Aflac staff.

Haleigh loves music. She plays the piano and violin.

Haleigh now wants to be a Hematologist to follow in the footsteps of her favorite doctor, Dr. Files. Each time she sees the clinic staff, she takes all of the information home to "review" it. She also has Elysse or the nurse breakdown all of her lab information to her. She in turn breaks it down to us. Aflac has inspired her to want to help find a cure for Sickle Cell Disease, and I believe she can!
