Bo was diagnosed a year ago, August 24th, 2006. In fact, the Care-a-Thon was going on when he was diagnosed last year. He was having facial twitches so he had an MRI done late Thursday afternoon. The MRI showed a tumor the size of a cue ball on the left side of his brain. He was scheduled for surgery the next day, August 25th, and finally at 10pm we learned that it was malignant. Further testing showed it to be an Ependymoma. Six weeks later we were back for a follow-up MRI and found that the tumor had already come back.So on October 10th, Bo underwent another surgery. Since this tumor proved to be rather aggressive, Bo started 33 rounds of radiation on October 24th. He has handled both surgeries and radiation wonderfully. To look at him now you would never know what he has been through. We are so fortunate and grateful for the Aflac Cancer Center, our fabulous doctor Anna Janss, and the "lump in the head team."
