My name is Emmy P. I am 11 years old. I was diagnosed in August 2006 with a brainstem tumor. We found out the first day of school, and I was quickly scheduled for surgery the following Monday. Most of the tumor was removed, about 95%.

I have been going to the Aflac Cancer Center since last September. I get chemo treatments once a week. I will continue to get them until December 2007. My doctor is Dr. Claire Mazewski. She is great. My nurse is Mrs. Liz. They both take good care of me. Liz always has blue jolly ranchers for me when she gives me the flush for my port. It makes me not be sick.

I like to cheer. I have been on a competition squad for the past 5 years. I did get to finish out the season. I am taking a break from that this year. I am just taking tumbling class for now.

I have learned how important family and friends are. I have two sisters, Abby and Sophy, who have been great during this time. I have had a lot of support from everyone. I have also grown in my faith during the past year. I know that God has a plan for my life.
