Scott was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in July of 2007 at the age of 16. Scott was planning on attending a week-long beach vacation with friends starting the day after his diagnosis. Needless to say, he didn’t attend the beach trip. That first week, Scott amazed us with his grace and strength.

Scott has played football for the past 7 years as a wide receiver. After receiving chemo treatments almost all week, Scott would be cheering on his friends at the Friday night football games.

Scott always made others feel good with his winning attitude and the huge smile on his face. He has shown everyone what a true hero he is. Scott spoke to the Gwinnett County Fellowship of Christian Athletes about the importance of maintaining a positive attitude. At the time, he was bald from going through treatments. He loves to play golf and guitar, as well as study French.

Scott has mentioned many times that maintaining a positive attitude will help you get through the hard times. He has also learned the power of friendship.

I don’t know what we would have done without the Aflac Cancer Center at Scottish Rite. Their constant love, support and never-ending positive attitude really made it easy.
