As business people we all sell a product or a service. The best way to help your business in tough times is to first work at keeping the customers you already have. Here are some tips: (1) Call each customer personally and thank them for their business, and ask if there is anything you can do to improve your service to them. If they say lower your prices simply say that you do not have that flexibility in these tough economic times. Dont lower your prices just to keep a customer, but you may want to price promote to get new customers. If you do, offer the same temporary price point to existing customers. (2) If you have a new product or service, this would be a good time during the call to let them know about it. But dont try to sell them something they dont need. Do not try to introduce expensive to produce new products or services in tough times. Inexpensive extensions of existing products or services are O.K. (3) The tried and true sales principle of find a need and fill it has been the same since dirt.
