ATLANTA'S ONLY NIGHT-TIME LOCAL TALK SHOW,
EVERY WEEKNIGHT 10PM UNTIL 2AM
34-year-old Chris Krok - graduated Summa Cum Laude from Western Illinois University. Interned in New York at "Dateline NBC" and at Talk Radio WABC. As a talk show host, scraped his way to the top--one market at a time--until reaching the radio broadcasting pinnacle: News-Talk 750 WSB. Radio shows in Jefferson City, Missouri; Madison, Wisconsin; Austin, Texas, and Minneapolis/St. Paul.
Infamous incidents during climb to the top:
In Madison, just before the war in Iraq was launched, a high school student reached out to Chris, telling him of a "Teach In" that was slated to take place during the school day. It was mandatory for many classes. The "Teach In" consisted of three speakers, all against the war, all from the far left side. Students were passing out flyers and putting up posters in the school, showing U.S. warplanes bombing innocent, starving Iraqi children, and teachers were promoting the "Teach In" on the intercom. Krok exposed the "Teach In" on the air at 9am. Listeners flooded the district with calls and emails of outrage. Just 7 hours later--at 4pm--the Madison School District and the High School principal held a press conference to announce the cancellation of the "Teach In". District clarified that it was in violation of their district policy which says, "Teaching shall be free from bias".
Spoke out at Madison, Wisconsin School Board meeting after board proposed banning the Pledge of Allegiance from schools. This followed days of using his local talk show to fight it. Appearance at school board meeting prompts Fox News "O'Reilly Factor" to put him on the air to 'weigh in'. As of this writing, not yet invited back to "O'Reilly Factor' (editor's note- he's on the same 'O'Reilly Factor' list that Neal Boortz is on, following O'Reilly's "Vicious S.O.B." moment with Neal).
Roused Wisconsin listeners to join him on-site to protest an "Anti-war Protest". Krok's group was smaller...but louder.
Fought Minnesota-wide smoking ban by staging a huge 'smoke-out'--garnering the focus of state-lawmakers, so Krok could make the following official statement: "Keep your &%$@ nose out of my %$&* business". Casualties of this protest: hundred of Winstons and cigars of various sizes. Radio station intern forced to dress as a giant lit cigarette was re-assigned to less stressful internship in accounting department.
Married/Family: Married with 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter. So proud of his family, he gets into emotional shouting matches with his overtly strong claim that his son is more beautiful than anyone else's.
Chris's idea of what you will get out of his show: "There's energy, non-stop...and the energy is contagious. The topics and stories we talk about will be local...naturally, because that's me. If it's not here, it doesn't hit me. My heart gets pulled into compelling local stories, and I think yours will too. If I'm doing my job right, you should have a visceral reaction. I'll be honest about myself. I'll get personal about the stories. Finally, I want you to be entertained, whether it's a serious topic or it's something funny."
That name: Yes, "Krok" is his real name. "Krok" is not his air name. "Krok" is of Polish origin. And, the name does fit.
Here is the exact translation from the Polish to English translation book:
| krok - springy step Springy, Resembling, having the qualities of, or pertaining to, a spring; elastic; as, springy steel; a springy step |
