Michael: Did you catch wind of last week's A.P. story re: the Italian physician Paolo Zamboni, MD, who seems to have uncovered a very simple "fix" for what may be a primary cause of many cases of Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.). Dr. Zamboni's discovery is related to a condition called "CCSVI," or Central cerebrospinal venous insufficiency:" A majority of MS patients he studied had demonstrable stenosis of the jugular and/or chest veins, causing a "reflux" of blood which normally would flow freely back to the heart. In his studies, Zamboni used basic angioplasty to open those vessels, resulting in positive outcomes in a majority of patients. Although the National MS Society pledges to assign U.S. research funds and to proceed cautiously to explore Dr. Zamboni's findings, individual MS patients and their families in Canada, the U.S. and U.K. are rightfully concerned that-- because this procedure utilizes NO drugs—it will therefore be of little interest to Big Drug Companies who typically FUND such research!
Although there is no indication that Dr. Zamboni recommends discontinuing MS meds following undergoing "Liberation therapy," it is widely assumed that if the procedure is successful, it will have enormous, Negative impact on the makers of the "disease modifying drugs" (DMD's) used to treat Multiple Sclerosis (not to mention the dozens of pharmaceuticals utilized daily for "symptom management. I have a brain tumor. Doctors are ready to help me. But CIGNA has been blocking me from getting testing and treatment for two years, while almost doubling my premiums.

Then, this week was the kicker. CIGNA's pharmacy called to say that the co-pay on the medicine that helps control my debilitating head pain is skyrocketing from $10 to $1,115. That's not a typo. They're making me pay one hundred times what I'm paying now, in addition to my $753/month premium.

An article published in the Lancet this weekend shows how the WTO is already committed to opening up the worlds public sector to international trade and foreign ownership if there is any degree of commercialisation, user-charging or partnership with the private sector. Transport and housing thus qualify in most countries, but so can health and education. What concerns the Lancet is that in Britain, where the use of the Private Finance Initiative and user-charging are far-advanced, we have created a degree of commercialisation of the public sector which means the rules of international free trade will have to govern our hospital service rather than the principles of free universal health care. A US multinational could take the NHS to the WTO disputes panel if it refused it permission to buy a PFI-financed British hospital. The world needs to govern its trade relationships, but what the protesters at Seattle are signalling is that the process is reaching the limits of its legitimacy. We need multinational trade rules, but they need to be part of an overall global economic architecture that is fairer and more balanced than this.

...Currently, healthcare spending accounts for 17 percent of the nation’s gross domestic product (GDP), and it is estimated that these costs will rise to 25 percent by 2025. Clearly, Congress needs to find a way to contain healthcare costs. However, in doing so, we need to make sure we do not create more problems. The United States has one of the best, most advanced healthcare systems in the world in terms of both quality and access to care. We need to make sure that any reforms that are approved preserve both the quality of care and our access to it.

I am very concerned about the healthcare proposals that have been approved by the House of Representatives and the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee. If these bills come before the Senate in their current form, I will oppose them and work for their defeat. These proposals are very complex and expensive, and I believe that we need to fully review all of the provisions and their consequences before rushing to approve a bill. The stimulus legislation, which spent close to a trillion dollars in borrowed money, was rushed through Congress with almost no oversight or debate. Healthcare reform is far too important to be rushed through in a similarly reckless manner.

The cost of this legislation: ... Members of both parties agree that our country is running unsustainable deficits, and we need to begin paying down our debts. ... However, the bills currently being considered would cost over one trillion dollars .... Recently, the Director of the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO) testified before Congress that the bills being considered could actually increase healthcare costs... a net increase in the federal budget deficit of $239 billion over the 2010-2019 period. The CBO also forecast that the proposals would lead to significant deficits outside of the 10-year budget window. Such a massive increase in federal debt would harm our country ....

Ultimately, I will not support legislation that fails to protect the Medicare program or places a government bureaucrat between a patient and their doctor when making medical decisions. We have one of the best healthcare systems in the world, and we do not need to destroy it to contain costs. Currently, the Medicare and Medicaid programs are losing $60 billion per year to fraud. We can fix this.... Similarly, we can restrain ... costs by allowing interstate competition in the health insurance market, enacting meaningful tort reform, providing tax parity for individuals who purchase their own health insurance, and allowing small businesses to pool their employees to purchase more affordable health insurance. These are just a few examples of good and constructive options for healthcare reform .... Unfortunately, the bills currently being considered do not include these proposals.

And I came up with a good question........... remember last fall when Joe the Plumber asked Obama questions and the Obama machine immediately set out to smear him, due to his owing some income taxes...............Well, now comes my question. Since he owed back taxes, why wasnt he appointed to a cabinet post, secretary of something.......after all, he meets the required criteria, several of the other appointed cabinet secretaries also owe back income taxes..............so why didnt he get one, that doesnt seem fair to me..............what do you think?

I have searched on the net for an email to contact you by. So I figure I would leave a comment on this page and perhaps you will see it. I am currently a graduate student of Sociology and am attending classes at Ball State University in Indiana. Within the Department at BSU I am outnumbered by Marxist theorists who in fact are discriminating against me for being a Conservative. Not only that I have a learning disability which handicaps me in much of the work that I am doing for the requirements in program. The department faculty as made statements towards me and my grades have been affected by my conservative reflections on much of the articles that I have written. I have been constantly told that, "I do not belong in program and need to pursue other career options". I need help, this degree is special to me in so many ways, I love to do research and it is my passion. Without the MA I have no chances at ever conducting scholarly research ever. I feel that the department knows my stance and views politically and socially and they are afraid that my views will not express their views...This is just a glimpse of what is going on and I have more to share. I will call in to your show tommorrow between 3 and 6 and I will use this as a reference to who I am.

But Sir some things I think you may be a little unfair about. The other night on your show you were asking how does the gun get into the hands of (people) that commits these sad acts of crime. I can tell you this, the guns are not being made in there homes. Growing up in the 1980's and 1990's I saw police officers putting drugs and guns on the streets. Many people saw things like this across our great country. So I think that's why we have the lack of respect for them. Does it make it right "NO" but it's the truth. But all officer are not bad. I have been a long time listener of your show and enjoy the psychological nudity that I can't get from my liberal professors in College. I was wondering (Since I've only been aware of Politics for the past two elections)Is Obama's win an assault on our borders, language and culture? (especially pro-capitalistic principles and the judeo-christian work ethic?) OR is this just a backlash against the evil Bush and another FDR liberal administration implementation? I'm young and haven't experienced much history, but I'm deeply discouraged!

Reverend right may have came at the wrong time and place but this goes on in every African American Church. The ones who are not afraid to say it that is. You have to know that the road that we travel is a whole lot different from the road that you traveled. We have had to shut up forever; we have had, to take what was given. I have a Degree in Business Administration I was laid off my job, do to economy driven cutbacks. I have a family of four and I have been trying to get a job that will feed my family for the last 4 months and that may not seem like a whole lot of time to you but, tell my children that, tell my wife that, tell TXU when they shut my lights off, tell that to Wells Fargo as they put my truck on the wrecker, b/c I could no longer afford the note. My son wants to play basketball and I and behind him 100% but in the back of my mind hopes that he will not make the team b/c I would not be able to buy his shoes, his uniform, his back and forth to practices and/or games. My daughter started high school this year and am so proud of her but she made an F in physics I now that it does not sound to bad but do you know how much gas that it takes to pick her up every other for tutoring. My wife loved me to death while everything was going well but we fight almost everyday since the money is scarce. She works, and she just got a raise she now makes $7.00 an hour, ain’t that great Michael, $7.00 an hour. I cannot go to the food stamp office b/c of my pride, I know that you understand that, have you ever had to get food stamps Savage, well it is very humiliating. My mom use to get it when I was a child can you imagine me going to the grocer with a book of food stamps, but you would not know anything about that I know. The Birk Economic Recovery Plan

I'm against the $85,000,000,000.00 bailout of AIG. Instead, I'm in favor of giving
$85,000,000,000 to America in a We Deserve It Dividend.

To make the math simple, let's assume there are 200,000,000 bona fide U.S. Citizens 18+. Our population is about 301,000,000 +/- counting every man, woman and child. So 200,000,000 might be a fair stab at adults 18 and up. So divide 200 million adults 18+ into $85 billion that equals $425,000.00. My plan is to give $425,000 to every person 18+ as a We Deserve It Dividend.

Of course, it would NOT be tax free. So let's assume a tax rate of 30%. Every individual 18+ has to pay $127,500.00 in taxes. That sends $25,500,000,000 right back to Uncle Sam. But it means that every adult 18+ has $297,500.00 in their pocket.

A husband and wife has $595,000.00. What would you do with $297,500.00 to $595,000.00 in your family? Pay off your mortgage - housing crisis solved. Repay college loans - what a great boost to new grads. Put away money for college - it'll be there. Save in a bank - create money to loan to entrepreneurs. Buy a new car - create jobs. Invest in the market - capital drives growth. Pay for your parent's medical insurance - health care improves. Enable Deadbeat Dads to come clean - or else.

Remember this is for every adult U S Citizen 18+ including the folks who lost their jobs at Lehman Brothers and every other company that is cutting back. And of course, for those serving in our Armed Forces.

If we're going to re-distribute wealth let's really do it...instead of trickling out a puny $1000.00 ( "vote buy" ) economic incentive that is being proposed by one of our candidates for President. If we're going to do an $85 billion bailout, let's bail out every adult U S Citizen 18+!

As for AIG - liquidate it. Sell off its parts. Let American General go back to being American General. Sell off the real estate. Let the private sector bargain hunters cut it up and clean it up.

Here's my rationale. We deserve it and AIG doesn't. Sure it's a crazy idea that can "never work", but can you imagine the Coast-To-Coast Block Party! How do you spell Economic Boom? I trust my fellow adult Americans to know how to use the $85 Billion We Deserve It Dividend more than I do the geniuses at AIG or in Washington DC . And remember, The Birk plan only really costs $59.5 Billion because $25.5 Billion is returned instantly in taxes to Uncle Sam.

Why is it..the one's who have low self-esteem always get radio talk shows? That way they can demean others when they call in with an opinion that differs from theirs. I've listened to the show a few times, and the only thing I got out of it is that he hates:Gays, Blacks, Women, Muslims, any person who is'nt white. Ive never met an individual in my life that I completely agree with on all subjects and never will. Savage is what he is-but one thing cannot be denied;he consistently seeks the truth. Since most people get their facts and agendas from mainstream sources like CNN, NBC etc., it's no wonder they've succeeded so very brilliantly at desensitizing Americans to whats at the core of the meltdown of this ailing nation. You can listen to Savage for one week and get more truth and exposure to critical issues that, frankly, almost no talking heads have the guts to cover or to share relative dialogue with an audience over. Sure he rants and yes he speaks passionately about certain subjects, but if you cant see that he loves this country and defends it on a nightly basis, then I'm sure there are others on the dial to appease your palate. I am so tired of hate radio. Michael Savage, Neal Boortz, and other hate mongers offer nothing but divisive rhetoric and right wing propaganda for their own interests. Savage's ignorant and hateful rant on the subject of autism, is the last straw for me. I don't harbor the belief that he is that ignorant about autism. The man has a PhD. He is capable of reading about the subject. He decided to use children for self aggrandizement, which should not be surprising since these people believe that only they personally are important. The autism comments are just the latest in his idiocy. I try listening to him, but have to turn him off after a few minutes because of his mindless rants. Everyone on the air says something every now and then that could be construed as offensive. As much as I love Boortz, I thought his comment that "Patrick Swayze doesn't deserve any pity because he was an alcoholic/smoker" was incredibly offensive. There is very little research to link that behavior. My father nearly died from the same cancer and was neither a drinker or a smoker. All of that said, I hate that Savage has lost his 7pm time slot on AM 750! I usually am driving at that time and so loved his commentary on current events. I don't listen when the other guy is talking because I find him to VERY repetitive and boring. Dr. Savage stimulates my mind and I love him like a grandfather. Again, give him a break.

The comments on Autism demostrated poor taste, and ingnorance. Michael Savage needs to go. I have two children, one with autism and one without. Both understand and behave well for me. One cannot be educated in public schools because of the autism. The other is doing fine in school. Now, you cannot tell me I'm a "bad parent." My older child without autism is well mannered and well liked at school. Also, my autistic son is learning run the technology for worship services on Sunday morning at our church. Yes, my autistic son has aspergers and can talk but he has trouble with sensory input. Don't tell me you know what it is like to walk in my shoes. I and my husband have degrees too, and so do the others who diagnose autism. We'll just find out who your sponsors are and encourage them to drop you.

Michael Savage's comments regarding autism are inexcusable and irresponsible. I'd like to think my favorite news/talk station will make the right decision and excise this tumor from their on-air schedule as responsible stations across the country have already done.

Savage’s comments on autism last week had no factual basis and revealed a hateful prejudice against seriously handicapped children. He stated the following:
“I’ll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it’s a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don’t have a father around to tell them, `Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don’t sit there crying and screaming, idiot.”
My cousin has two autistic children, and I can assure you, these precious children suffer from a serious brain disorder, which has nothing to with a lack of discipline or lack of a father figure.
As best stated by John Pitney in a National Review Online article this morning, “Screaming insults at a handicapped kid is not child-rearing. It’s child abuse.”
Savage does not deserve the opportunity to speak on WSB. His show should be removed immediately.

I agree with Michael, Kids today have no discipline at home or school.Whatever happened to freedom of speech ? If Hollywood and the media don't agree with the talk show host, they go after them to be fired. Michael should not be fired, he should be complimented for his view, which hundreds of people agree with him.

WSB- please remove Savage from the air. The autism thing took things too far, and supposedly Savage has a degree in epidemiology which means he should understand public health and diseases. This ignorant man gives a bad name to your radio station, and the fact that he is played in Atlanta gives a negative connotations to Atlantans. Please remove him.

I thoroghly disagree with Mr. Savage. As a family member with an autistic child, I recommend he live with a family of an autistic child for a week. Then maybe he will learn to think before he opens his mouth. These children and their families suffer terribly. Autism is very difficult to deal with on a daily basis.He is still living in the dark ages and he is ignorant. I will no longer listen to the show.

My child with autism understands the word NO very well and responds to it appropriately. So, he can't communicate with me because I never told him no? What BS. I'm sure the bad parenting gave me a normal 2nd child also, right? Autism is a neurobiological disease. It is totally different than ADD. You idiots should do your homework.

When will you put Savage back on at 7 PM and move Herman 'FairTax is all I talk about' to a later time slot? I'd like to see how Herman's show does compared to when Savage was on at 7.

Your show was AWESOME on Friday, July 11. I must say I was absolutely SHOCKED to hear someone of your stature talking about the CORRUPT FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM.

Please, though, investigate the connection between the Federal Reserve and the unjust, undeclared Iraq War.

Dr Savage, I'm of hispanic heritage and I couldn't agree with you more on everything, and yes even on illegal imigration. I've meet many of this individuals over the course of my life and they admit that the're not here to learn the "anglo" way of life, they don't want to learn how to speak, read, and write english. Most just want to have kids so that the child becomes a citizen and therefore opening up governments assistance to them. I've seen how they just abuse Wellfare, Tax credits, you name it and there's a good chance the've done it. Ever since I discovered you by accident, today it's a pleasure to listen to you. I now am a devoted listener. Dr. Savage you say out loud exactly of what I'm thinking about everything and on top of that you give me REAL imformation so that my rational mind can make an honest, and rational judgement about everything that affects our everyday life. Thank You and keep up the good work. U are our leader as far as I'm concerned.

I listen to you and my stomach turns. You are such a homo-phobe, it's sickening. Your prejudice and hatred paired with your selfrightiousness makes you a true idiot. I mean really. Get a life. I listen to talk radio to get some insight because I know I don't know it all. It's a shame to see someone with the ability to reach someone, like yourself, waste it spreading hatred, when you probably do have some enlightening information in that small minded brain of yours.
