I had a falling out with Cessna that ended with me in a deposition for a manufacturing fraud suit involving a 310 that flew into a July 4 crowd in Southern California several years ago. I was a MEL rep for Cessna in the 70's and I flew the 310 for transportation. The FAA issued a directive based on my information and I have a copy. I understand that the Gwinette crash happened shortly after takeoff. If eyewitnesses say that the gear was down and it sounded like an engine faiure occurred, I can probably tell you what happened. They refuse to correct the POH to direct the pilot to secure the emergency gear extension handle prior to takeoff. If not properly stowed, it can rotate when the gear handle is moved "up" and lodge in the left engine fuel selector quadrant causing the left engine fuel selector valve to go to the "off" position and the engine to fail due to fuel starvation, making it impossible to raise the gear. Down she goes. It happened to me and luck is the reason I am the only living eye witness.

I have a small car (Galant) but the big boy trucks defenitely overpower my car. The electricity grid requires a certain baseline steady flow of electricity with a dependable source to function at all so dependency on coal and oil and nuclear power will remain for a long time. Individual homes and businesses need to switch to private energy sources and put excess power back into the grid during peak demands. Our brainpower from the youth is diminishing by society's low expectations of schools and families which no longer inspire and motivate excellence and creativity. Will America fall by the wayside?

You won't be shocked when you look at Congressman John Lewis'(GA) web site and search for H.R. 2454: American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009. You won't find anything informing his constituents about how a large portion of their annual salary will be confiscated by this bill but you will get to read Lewis' statement about the Supreme Court's decision on voter rights.

Neal, it is absurd and unjust for the Government to impose penalties for not enrolling in Government Programs and block a citizen's access to Health Insurance. Due to penalties I cannot afford Medicare Part B and by law private companies cannot insure me. This is Elder Abuse by the Federal Government and threatens my independence, well-being and financial security. There are little understood harmful aspects in Government Programs which the people, and Lawmakers themselves, are unaware. This is one of them and there should not be any penalties imposed in new Legislation under consideration. Government Programs strip people of their freedom. Americans need to take care of themselves and not be "sheeple" as the Russian newspaper Pravda refers to us. I think it is unconstitutional for Government to penalize citizens for not enrolling in Government Programs. Our Government is supposed to be of the people by the people and for the people not for the Government.

As I recall my history (a sure sign I will never be a government leader), there was a time in the 20th Century that soldiers were required to take an oath of allegiance to their leader (normally the oath would be to serve their country). Guess what leader they had to pledge their allegiance to?

Isn't it probable that most of the contsuction jobs will be taken by another wave of illegal immigration from Mexico and all our tax money will be wired back there? How can this help the US economy.

I have only been a citizen of this wonderful country for 3 years, but have lived here for 18 years.

Reasons I see as contributing factors besides American apathy:

2. Americans became followers versus leaders;

4. Government manages your destiny… without your best interest as a driver;
5. Illegal immigrants get free range of the education and medical systems while Valuable and Contributing ones wait 3 to 7 years to get an immigration visa and pay at least $2K to do so.

Common Sense and accountability went out the window. Boortz and a handful of other brave speakers can’t do for you (us) what each of us can with our own voices, letters, and by educating the ones that don’t understand that POWER (government) and MONEY (your money) only create more corruption…

You were probably kidding, but if you know a little about shotguns, if passengers started shooting shotguns at the terrorists, you would wind up with a bunch of dead skeet shooting passengers. The effective range of a shotgun is not very far, especially compared to the high power rifles the pirates use. Cruise ships in that area should be staffed with trained snipers with high-powered rifles. A 50cal would work very well. Better yet, use some type of cannon to sink the pirate boats.

My wife and I spent Christmas in the UAE in 2006. We visited several of the emirates iincluding Sharjah (the most conservative/religious emirate). Every hotel, mall, shopping area and club had a Christmas tree. They all had Christmas music playing in the background and it included religious songs (Little Town of Bethlehem) as well as secular songs (Frosty the Snowman). Everyone asked where we were from and when we said America, they immediately replied with “Merry Christmas”.

Being a former Detroiter, I can tell you that the auto workers may have unionized themselves out of a job. Earnings should be commensurate with training and education level. Why should someone with a high school diploma make 70.00 an hour to produce a crap product? When I lived in Detroit, stories were common of auto workers punching eachother's time ticket in and out, drinking on the job, calling in sick, faking injuries to collect workman's comp and so on. It is time for American auto companies to realize that they had the opportunity 30 years ago to compete with foreign companies but they chose to do business as usual. This is the result. We cannot bail out every poorly run company in the country. It is just not feasible.

I could not believe hearing you try to decide how to HIDE MONEY FROM OUR GOVERNMENT, in order to avoid "possible" and I repeat "possible" taxation. The options I heard coming from YOUR mouth were either to purchase real estate or put your money in another country. My son came home from school and asked why is it wronge for Obama to give money to poor people? Little johnny lives on a farm his parents work this farm for a living. So Johnny always has a huge lunch packed for him from his farm. Many of the children in his class live in the city. These children live near nice parks and movie theaters. Suffice it to say many of these kids have a slim lunch of a PB sandwich and (yes Neal) a bag of chips. Johnny is touched by a few of the kids in his class that live in the city because they live in the city because Mom is a single parent and she needs to live on the bus line. So Johnny shares his lunch with these children. Next thing you know teacher comes in and demands that Johnny must share his lunch with everyone in class. Is that fair? Why cant Johnny chose who he wants to help? So what happens next...... Johnny stops bringing that huge lunch that he was happy to share with some of the class. Now no one gets any extra lunch!

The recent fall of oil price per bbl of oil It is at/below $70. What caused this? It was not supply and demand. Demand is higher than ever. The supply is about the same. They say Gas may fall to below $2.00 gallon by Dec. Why? Answer: The Speculators... And the talk over and action in alternative engery sources. Every time we get serious the price of gas drops and of course it is more convientant and cheaper to go with oil. Coinsidence???

I watched the third debate and can see how the general masses (self included) can easily be persuaded to vote for Obama (at first glance). His debate skills are polished and professional. He words (though vague) do ring with what we want to hear. Who doesn't want more opportunity and less tax? Based on liberal media, Obama has no weaknesses. If not for Boortz and Hannity, I too could be fooled. It takes some real thought to decipher the real implication of his words.

At second glance, you can hear the "just words" and notice the omitted "how to pay for it". Looking at facts, we know that Regan’s lowering of taxes, not only boosted, but enabled our economy to prosper. When Obama says “I’ll keep jobs from going over the border, you hear what sounds good till you remember the facts - it’s the higher corporate taxes that cause jobs to disappear and move elsewhere.

I am proud to be an American. Most of us really do have a true “can do” attitude. But if we allow the “let the government provide” attitude prevail, may God help us! Although Americans can overcome almost anything, I wonder, regardless of political affiliation, how can we survive Obama? Particularly with the current financial uncertainty. Particularly how our economy affects the global economy. I fear a vote for Obama equals a vote for an abomination.

An additional trillion of spending. Additional tax burden on business (our economic engine), including the average Joe plumber. Less jobs, less choice, less individual opportunity. The only ones who would benefit are those who don’t want to work. Yes, I am worried. If we believe the media spin, we’re already done. I have to believe the liberal spin is also “just words”. An attempt to defraud the public trust. An attempt to steal the election. At one point, McCain was not my first choice. Today, McCain & Palin are our only choice, our only chance, for America to survive.

Joe Biden proves again he hasn't an original thought. He praised Obama, said little about himself. He attacked McCain,who was not there to defend himself. Get your family together--and when they're healthy--IF they agree to run with you then run. Be the conservative you purport yourself to be--and make the pro life decision again. Plenty of responsible women defer motherhood to realize their dreams--and perhaps they may (I do not know) regret doing so when they see women with their families. But at I personally applaud these women who recognized that if they want to realize dreams, and accomplish goals, it would be a bit more polite to a family to do so BEFORE you start one.

What good is it to brag about your "Conservative Values" and boast on your "Conservative Principles" of having a down-syndrome baby (and when did we start championing mothers and applauding them for not terminating their allegedly less than perfectly potentialed tennants of their wombs? Her 17 year old's mentally functions higher than that of a 17 year old with Down Syndrome--but look at the effect of her high-functioning brain's actions. Perhaps she has been a great C.E.O. type for her constituency but all of that means nothing if the people she united under a ring and before God (her choice in getting married and creating a family) and brought into this world (her children) are suffering.

Excelling in politics IS a feat--and she should WELL be commended for it--however, if an athlete excels on the field and then does poorly in class so much so that all of the time and energy he has worked so diligently at and in earnest in doing well on a field--if it is at the cost of his education--his main purpose for being in school...then the "extracurriculars" of sport have been warped and flipped-flopped his purpose as a student and he has slowly turned into an athlete with school and education becoming the extra-sport--the supplementary club.

I'm a business person--been in Finance at various companies (some of the ones you referred to) and this gets to the ignorance of the american population. It's not about what you make, it's what you keep. This is why the US gov is almost bankrupt. We all have been duped into running our bottom lines (personal in this case) off of credit ala our big ol' government. If you spend 95% of what you make, you have a 5% margin. No savings. If you spend 50% of what you make and have 50% less over, guess what, you have more room to make $. NOBODY is paying attention because we're too busy listening to the ipod.

I disagree. I think our corporate tax rate does not help our domestic companies be competitive, but I think the real reason for the sell off is that with the drop in the value of the US dollar, they have become a bargain for buyers that hold stronger currencies.
