ATLANTA (AP) Georgia has confirmed the state's second case of influenza this season. Health officials said today that the case involved a normally healthy adult in north Georgia who is recovering.
The state's first confirmed flu case was reported on December 21st, involving a person from northeast Georgia.
Tod Rose, spokesman for the state Department of Human Resources, says health officials are reminding people who are in the recommended group for influenza vaccine to get a flu shot if they already have not done so because ``the season doesn't typically peak until February.''
Adults age 50 to 65, out of home caregivers and household contacts of people in high risk are recommended to receive the flu shot. The recommendation matched the decision a federal immunization panel made last month.
The government previously recommended that healthy adults delay or skip a flu shot this season to save vaccine for the estimated 98 million people in the country who need it most.
