cops in Hartwell run loose. I'm a middle age white female, well rounded with zero criminal background. Officer Stan got in my face in a dark parking lot threatening me. Bully boy. After I tighten my jaw to restrain the cuss words I wanted to throw at him, he said I needed a ticket for bad attitude. I pulled out a woman's tactic and said I was trying not to cry. He backed out of my face immediately, blustered for a minute and left. If I had been a man I can imagine a different ending. I didn't bother to report this guy because when I went to Chief Reno to make a complaint on Officer Sharod for writing a false ticket, the chief refused to take down the complaint. He just rambled on other stuff until I gave up and left. I contacted the mayor twice about his officers, both times he walked away from me, refusing outright to even listen. If the underlying feeling in town was that the cops are good guys, then this incident would be handled as a once in a lifetime issue. Instead it's the last straw for many people who simply cry out for having honest competent officers. And a fair and impartial judicial system. Before I go , I tell you to check Ga's census bureau for criminal statistics for Hartwell. For the same year Chief Reno won traffic ticket king status from the governor for his officers writing the most traffic tickets for a town of Hartwell's size. (When I read this I realized why I recieved my false ticket)This same year personal and property crime more than doubled in Hartwell, while the population decreased. In comparison, population in Hart county increased while crime decreased in all three measured areas for the county. These facts are accessible to anyone going online. Chief Reno is not capable of doing the job we need him to do. He needs to go. My fear is he knows where so many bodies are buried( politically of course) that we will be stuck with him for years to come.
