Of course there is privately funded stem cell research. But we want the research in our colleges and schools.<br> <br> Schools receiving federal funding may receive such funding only as a contingency of complying with the state's stem cell rule, whether or not the federal funding is actually for stem cell research. <br> <br> The state legislature is being irresponsible when it tries to limit stem cell research in the state. I'm not for pork projects, either, but I'd like our state universities to be able to do stem cell research without giving up other funding.<br> <br> The way politics works: Do what I say or I will take all your funding away. Like it or not, that's the way it is.
