The article actually says nothing about the man's injuries. It says he received a cut to his head, he was complaining of back pain when he was taken away, and he was taken to a hospital. The article does not indicate whether he was admitted, nor does it give any indication of any injuries sustained which were not immediately obvious to an untrained observer. This doesn't look like a cover-up, it looks like responsible reporting from a reporter who has not yet had the opportunity to follow up on the man's condition. Note also that this is a radio story, which also contributes to its brevity.
