Polar bears have lost much of their expanse of ice floes for homes, down to about 10% north of Alaska and the Arctic has been melting for years. Polar bears drown as they swim up to 60 miles looking for a sheet of ice to climb up on. Now the ice dens are collapsing onto the baby bears. Read from NRDC: The reports of polar bear cubs dying as their snowy dens melt and collapse on top of them are heartbreaking -- but, unfortunately, such incidents are likely to continue as the Arctic keeps warming.

Since the Obama Administration has not come to the polar bears rescue, its now up to NRDC to protect them in federal court.

Please give whatever you can now to help us win full-fledged protection for polar bears under the Endangered Species Act -- even chipping in $10 will make a difference. We must act swiftly -- otherwise Alaskas polar bears could be extinct by 2050. //
Some parts of the globe seem to be warming a great deal even if some glaciers are growing again and even if record snows earlier than usual occurred last winter. THE ARCTIC IS WARMING; THE ICE HAS BEEN MELTING. POLAR BEARS ARE DYING, lack of home space, lack of food. If the female polar bear isn't fat enough, she can't get pregnant.
