The AU Center does not pay anything into the City of Atlanta to support all the services they receive... Fire, Police, EMS, Public Works, etc... they are getting free ride... that is one of the problems in Atlanta, there is TOO much tax exempt property leaving the burden on the rest. Atlanta residents and businesses have to subsidize all the churches, colleges, state and federal government buildings, and other tax exempt properties utilized by non-local residents. Many other areas of the state have no or very limited state or federal government buildings and/or college/university campuses that are being subsidized for nonresidents. Someone has to pay for the fire, police and other services, let those who receive these services pay and not use the police power of government to force others to pick up the slack or be denied adequate services to the tax payers such as in Atlanta so that those who pay nothing can get free services.
