The situation regarding homeless and needy animals has reached critical mass. I've been doing animal rescue for thirty years, and in those thirty years the situation has gone from bad to intolerable. It should have been the other way around. The situation should have gone from bad to very good. But we have allowed so many people into this country who have no concept of responsible, humane animal ownership, and we haven't prosecuted severely those who reside here who have been accused of abusing and neglecting animals, and now we have millions more unwanted animals than we had 30 years ago.

And after 30 years, I finally had to get out to preserve my peace of mind. I was licensed the last five or six years, and the life of an animal rescuer has just become too stressful and demanding. No one is donating money anymore, few are adopting, more are giving up their own pets for flimsy or nonexistent reasons, and animal rescue people are stretched to the point of breaking. Abuse and neglect of animals is up, and it isn't going to get anything but worse in the coming years.

I'm out....and more animals are dying because of it. But I had my fill with complaining people at the local pet store where I adopted out from, a corporate mentality at the pet store where I adopted out from, lack of money to properly care for animals, and just general mental and physical exhaustion after so many years.

Something's gotta change in this country, or we are headed toward a time when no one will do animal rescue and no one will adopt them and we will be killing MILLIONS more than we already are.

This country is headed into terrible times.
