The ticket to work program designed to help people get off the SSDI program is so flawed!! I have a disability which only kicks in badly if I work overtime and more than one job! My employer uses what is called "Activity Based Compensation" designed to reward workers that make more sales with more compensation and bonuses. Because I am good at my job, I have had to limit the amount of compensation by taking time off at the end of each month. My employer is very understanding and they work with me on this, now that they are aware of my disability. At first, I did not tell them, because no one was hiring me telling them ahead of time. Now, I understand why. My employer understands that I am trying to do my best to carry my own weight and also pay down back debt for medical bills for which I had no coverage. If I make one penny more than the allowed amount of $960.00 per month, my entire Disability Allotment is disqualified for the month. Wouldn't it make more sense for this system to work in the following way: as you make more money your benefits are reduced (period) Then you are being encouraged to do as much as possible to carry your own weight without penalty to employees or employers! That's the Healthcare bill change that should have occurred! So more Americans that are on that system are able to truly free themselves from the system and become more if not completely independent!!
