(WSB Radio)  Some Gwinnett County resident think the county's new trash pick up plan is a bunch of garbage.

Commissioners spent much of Tuesday night's meeting defending the plan at a meeting that extended late into the evening.

The idea is to cut down on trash truck traffic through neighborhoods.  So, the commissioners picked two companies to serve unincorporated parts of Gwinnett, starting in January.

20,000 homes currently don't pay for trash service, but this plan requires hiring someone .

Some residents say they're outraged that they are just now finding out about the plan.

What others are saying

  • Socialism Never works
It amazes me that the board is all republican and yet they think that government involved can once again beat the free market what a crock. I guess Advanced Disposal made some good campaign contribution promises. Here in lies the problem when you create a agency like Gwinnett clean and beautiful you get asinine proposals like this due to them having to justify their unnecessary existence. Just one more step towards Dekalb and Fulton. Get out while you can folks as an appraiser I suggest Forsyth or Cherokee it appears these are two of the last metro counties who are being ran by folks who care more about the LONG term future of the county rather than being re elected and letting corrupt builders build cheaply constructed vinyl boxes.
  • corruption
I called Advanced Disposal today, (678 684 1493)and the lady who answered my call was in Florida !This is unbelievable, GCBS claims of creating jobs in Gwinnett are so fallacious. They are taking jobs from Gwinnett residents, workers, and companies to give it to “Advanced Disposal.”

Advanced Disposal is based in California,They are using a call center in Florida and are using a company from North Carolina to deliver the
    containers.
Gwinnett County is filled with incompetent politicians who are out of touch with it's citizens. The only thing that will be getting greener are the commissioners pockets.
Why hasn't Neal Boortz said anything on this ?
  • Question
Where did the 20,000 homes take their trash? Bury it in the backyard, take it to the dumpster behind Wal-Mart? Hummm....
  • Trash pick-up
The outrageous part is that I will keep my same company but pay more each month. I got a form e-mail reply from Gwinnett Clean and Beautiful telling me that some people won't pay more. That helps me a lot!
  • You can't just recycle everything.
What a dumb Buck. Should we should try to recycle used hygiene products, like you, douche bag?
  • Trash
If everyone would recycle you wouldn't need a trash service.
