Dogs Taken from Puppy Mill
(WSB Radio) The Atlanta Humane Society is taking care of more than 140 dogs confiscated from a kennel in Cherokee County.
"Apparently the woman was old and could not take care of the animals anymore," says Kari Bogison, with the Humane Society, "so she just surrendered the animals to us."
The dogs, 143 in all, are all pure breeds and range from yorkies to boston terriers.
They're being examined and Bogison says they should soon know when the dogs will be available for adoption.
"They're pretty filthy, they all need baths," Bogison says, "but it's not as bad as some puppy mills we've visited before."
What others are saying
- By law, Ag has to pay for or reimburse for housingIf asked to house animals "seized" by Ag, it is Ag's place to pay for, or reimburse, the kennels/persons for the cost of housing those animals - unless a warrant was issued, then the bill would fall on the taxpayers.
It's not the taxpaying public that should be footing their bills. Tell Ag to stop shirking on paying for their licensed puppy mill clean ups.
Check the law, peeps -
