News/Talk 750 WSB needs YOUR help on several stories we're developing.

First, we are very interested in hearing from parents who have struggled with their kids and text messaging.  We are also interested in hearing from teens who text message things they don't want their parents to know about.  Finally, we are aware that some people have been harassed by others via text messaging. If you relate to any of these situations please email your story to Condace Pressley.

Next, we know that everyone is going through some tough economic times, but we also know there are success stories just waiting to be told.

We are working on a couple of news series with the goal of communicating some good news.  If your business, organization or neighborhood is thriving, we would love to profile you in our series "Getting Through It."

If you are business that is hiring now, pleas let us know for a series we'll call "Help Wanted."

Please share your stories with us.  Send them via email to Condace Pressley.

What others are saying

  • To the AFM post
Normally when a religion pushes this kind of stuff I balk BUT he knew befiore he started working the requirements and he took the job anyway. Nuff said.

This is off topic but may be useful:
My son got a job in the warehouse, operating freight handling equipment. He was paid fair money but with strings attached. Once he got hired he was told that he would be required to attend "Emmanuel Praise Church" the church that hosts the home of AFM and is pastored by Joe Wingo. He would be required to become a member and give 10% of his pay to EPC. I saw that as very ugly. He did not attend the church because our family has church membership elsewhere and we don't hold the same doctrinal beliefs that the Wingos preach. The few times that my son did attend Emanuel Praise church, he told me that the main focus of the teaching is about turning your money over to the religion and God would give you possessions beyond your wildest dreams. He said that hearing that type of doctrine preached in what is portrayed as "Gods House" made him feel dirty. He was eventually fired for not becoming a church member and not tithing.
They are linked to and friends with television evangelist Kenneth Copeland who regularly spews that same type of "earthly possession" doctrine. The following link will take you to the WEBSHOTS sit of Wes Wingo the son of the founder Joe Wingo and as you view his photos you will see the personal connection to Kenneth Copeland, the extravagant lifestyle, the operations of AFM and EPC, but mostly the pride of the possessions. http://community.webshots.com/user/weswingo

A few things that annoy me about the so-called ministry: If it is to truly help hurting people get cheap food why was there so much profit being made? Why not help more and lower the food price even more?
I never liked that all four members of the Wingo family (Joe, Linda, Wes and Andy) are "Church Pastors" and receive Pastor pay.
I never liked seeing those (caring Souls, The Wingos) sporting around town in An Escalade, a Hummer, A Jaguar and those type of vehicles, while forcing employees to be members of the church and tithe.
I never likes seeing so many City of Monroe and Walton county law enforcement vehicles out there at AFM on "Distribution Day" those vehicles are paid for by taxpayers...
I never liked that church officials that were in supervisory positions carried handguns while at work at AFM. (what is that about?)
I always found it odd that some of Walton counties top leaders left County and city jobs to go to work full-time at AFM. ( check AFM web-site, list of ministry leaders.) Al Yarborough, former WC sherriff, Kitty Yarborough, former WC magistrate Judge, etc.
I never liked that on Distribution day employees were (and maybe still) allowed to take home large amounts of food (I have seen dozens of pickup-trucks leaving, fully loaded with food.
I have much more but you surely get the gist. Terry Hirko (770) 265-6255
