Suspect's Jeep Found
(WSB Radio) -- Athens-Clark Co. police have located the car belonging to former University of Georgia professor Georgia Zinkhan, who is suspected in the fatal shooting of his wife and two other people outside a community theater last weekend.
WSB's Richard Sangster reports the red Jeep Liberty was found early Friday along Cleveland Road in northwest part of the county, not far from Zinkhan's home.
Police have not yet found Zinkhan, who was last seen driving away in a red Jeep after dropping his children off with a neighbor. They were in his car during the shooting but weren't hurt.
FBI Special Agent Greg Jones tells WSB that a brief signal from a cell phone in the Jeep tipped off investigators.
"The vehicle was in a ravine, well off the beaten path," said Jones.
The location is not far from Zinkhan's home in Bogart.
Authorities are searching a 200-acre area surrounding that ravine, "to ensure that he's not there," Jones said.
Dozens of police cars, a Mobile Command Unit RV and a wrecker were assembled at Cleveland Road Baptist Church. Nearby Cleveland Road Elementary School is on lockdown.
Zinkhan, 57, is a former business school professor.
