Boy Killed by Playmate
(WSB Radio) -- A 12-year-old East Point is dead in an apparent accidental shooting.
East Point Police Detective Cliff Chandler tells WSB it happened around 6:15 Wednesday night at the Eagle's Crest Apartments at 3216 Spanish Trail.
"We do have some individuals that we have been interviewing who were present at the time of the shooting. We're trying to determine their role in this at this point," said Chandler.
The boy, who was shot in the chest with a large caliber firearm, was in poor shape when rescue crews arrived on the scene.
"We know CPR was being administered at that time. I'm not a doctor, but he was not in very good shape at that point," said Chandler.
He says it's too early to say if any charges will be filed in the case.
What others are saying
- This is one of parents biggest fears. You never know what is in someone else's house. I hate when my kids go to someone else's house. How long will it take before these parents PUT THEIR GUNS AWAY AND OUT OF REACH, LOCKED????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know what it's like to lose a kid of that age in an accident. The family becomes devastated, that can triple when it is the result of something so stupid as this. There are already too many ways for people to die in this world, don't up your chances by letting guns in your house. I feel so bad for the families involved.
- Boy Killed By PlaymateCharge the owner of the gun for not securing it. If you have kids in the house you must secure your firearms. LOCK THEM UP!! I'm not against someone owning guns but you must be responsable with them.
