Fire Reveals Gwinnett Growhouse
(WSB Radio) A House fire in Gwinnett County reveals an elaborate pot growing operation in quiet suburban neighborhood.
Sugar Hill City Manager Bob Hail inspected the damage after a fire at the home on Monday, but this home was unlike any other.
"I went in and the bedrooms were just full of little plastics pots with plants in them," Hail said. "They were all lined up with water hoses, pebbles and all that other stuff and it was a pot-growing house."
While it appears no one was living in the home, Hail believes someone was recently inside.
"All the plants had been snipped off about an inch and a half from the vertical growth," Hail said. "They'd either snipped them all off or taken what they could salvage and got out."
Neighbors are shocked to learn of the pot growing house nearby. Amy Naddra a neighbor on Whitehead Road never thought drug dealers were living that close to her.
"We have three kids, it's something that would be a concern of mine," Naddra said. "It's kinda of shocking."
But Naddra was aware of the drug dealers and cartels setting up shop in quiet neighborhoods, but never thought it would be so close to home.
"I've heard from a neighbor that there was some traffic going through that was a drug dealer in this neighborhood." Naddra said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
