Gwinnett Cops Kill Suspect
(WSB Radio) A suspect is dead, shot down by Gwinnett County narcotics cops who were serving a search warrant.
Police went to the home at 1077 Cedar Oak Court, in Lawrenceville, at about 6 this morning to serve the warrant. It was part of a joint operation between the Gwinnett County Police Department and the DEA.
Undercover narcotics officers entered into the home and found a lone suspect inside.
"They were met by one of the suspects who displayed a weapon," Gwinnett Police Corporal David Schiralli tells WSB. "He pointed it at our officers. Our officer had no choice but to shoot which, ultimately, killed the suspect."
The suspect's name has not been released.
Schiralli says police knocked on the door several time, then identified themselves as police in both English and Spanish before entering the home.
Another man who was at the home was placed under arrest.
Schiralli did not have details on the joint operation, nor did he know how many suspects are being sought.
The officers involved in the shooting are being questioned as part of the police investigation.
What others are saying
- Re: Spanish?Spine, I'll do you one better. If they don't break the law then they don't have to worry about the police speaking their language.
- Waterboard himThis should be easy to figure out. The other man they arrested should be waterboarded to give the facts. These drug dealers deal their death to kids, so the truth must be found out.
- War on Drugs is a failureThe war on drugs is a joke. We all know how well prohibition worked. Americans love their drugs and nothing is going to stop them from getting them. Why not make them legal? Tax them like cigarettes to offset drug treatment and medical costs. End the drug cartel's influence, take cash out of gang members pockets. Release all the idiots serving time for non-violent drug crimes. We have enough government intrusion in our lives.
- Grammar/Spelling"...time,..."
Adam, have you noticed they seem to have a real problem with using proper tense and plurality? Dont you understand Ebonics? - Foreign LanguagesGwinnett POLICE!!! Gwinnexico Policia!!!
O.K. So that's not a hard one, but aren't there now about 119+ languages spoken in Metro Atlanta? - no me gusta le element de criminalThey HAVE to say it in Spanish, or all the Mexican people will get worked up and say the police are after them. It's all political correctness. Sickening.
- ErrorsWho proofreads these articles?
- Spanish?Police should not have to identify themselves in Spanish. I am offended. Why shouldn't the police have to identify themselves in German, French, Italian, Chinese, Japanese, and any other foreign language? English should be the only language police need to say!
- dummyashes to ashes dust to dust if you wouldn't mess with drugs he would still be with us way to go gwinnett police dept way to go
