Johns Creek Shooting
(WSB Radio) -- Johns Creek Police are investigating their first officer-involved shooting. Chief Ed Densmore tells WSB it happened just before 7 o'clock Wednesday night at the Abbott's Station Subdivision on Abbott's Station Drive, near Medlock Bridge Road.
He says they were called about shots being fired in the subdivision.
"Upon their arrival, they observed the gentleman standing outside of his residence, armed. There was an exchange of gunfire between him and an off-duty Atlanta officer who was a neighbor. He was contacted by his neighbors. At that point in time, the Johns Creek officer returned fire and the subject was struck," said Densmore.
The man, whose condition is not known, was taken to Emory at Johns Creek.
They're talking to witnesses and are still trying to figure out why the man was shooting.
"We do know when we got here, he was in front of his garage," said Densmore.
The officers, who were not hurt, are on paid administrative leave.
