Johns Creek Suspect Dies
(WSB Radio) Police say a 56-year-old man who was wounded during a shootout with officers in Johns Creek has died.
Police say Gregory Wayne Keith died at Emory Johns Creek Hospital.
A police report says an off-duty Atlanta officer heard gunfire Wednesday evening outside his home in the Abbotts Station subdivision.
The officer reported Keith was firing a handgun. Police say the Atlanta officer ordered Keith to drop his weapon, and that gunshots were exchanged and Keith was hit.
Johns Creek officers arrived during the exchange and the report says one of them also fired at Keith, who was wounded in his chest, abdomen and thigh.
What others are saying
- MY DADfirst of all, i want to say that my dad was my best friend. my entire world and my heart was ripped out of my chest when he was KILLED by an untrained, unprofessional policeman. my dad did not have a gun on his person AT ALL when the police arrived at my house. i want to make sure that it is known that the JCPD failed to make an accurate decision and then shot my father in the heart. if im correct, cops are trained to shoot the legs, arms, and abdomen when trying to detain a person.. not the heart.
- Good riddance.
