(WSB Radio) -- The twin sister of the deaf Avondale Estates woman stabbed to death over the weekend says the man arrested for the murder of 21-year-old Tekelia Blackshear did not commit the crime.

Laquita Blackshear says the suspect, Darrell Charles Smith, lived next door to the sibling roommates in the Oak Creek apartment complex for several years.  She tells Channel 2 Action News "he loved her.  That man loved her like that was his sister.  That man's been around for I don't know how long.  He did not do that."

Smith, who's also 21 and deaf, was apprehended Tuesday by members of the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department Fugitive Squad.  He's being held without bond in the county jail.

Investigators have not revealed a motive for the stabbing, which occurred early Sunday morning at the apartment complex off of Rockbridge Road.
