Burglars Strike Near City Hall
(WSB Radio) Having a business across the street from Atlanta City Hall apparently offers no protection from crime.
Burglars hit a restaurant at Central Avenue and Mitchell Street early this morning, a business directly across Central from City Hall.
The break in was at about 4:10 this morning.
The owner of Mama Mia's Pizzaria says the crooks broke in by smashing a glass door with a brick. They then got away with three 64" flat screen televisions. George Gholami says the burglars tried to take a fourth TV, but were not able to get it off the wall and ran out instead.
Gholami says his restaurant does have video surveillance cameras, but not in the area that was hit by the burglars.
What others are saying
- hummBob, that is a terrific idea. Better yet, have them take a snap shot and forward to authorities in a data base for viewing and arrest.
- Theft ProblemElimination of Theft Problem: SHOOT THE "THIEF". You articulate fear that the trespasser is intending to commit a forcible felony; and you SHOOT HIM! Typically, if you make a good headshot, there won't be much blood if any at all. Therefore, you won't have to track down the big screen TV; and you won't have to clean up anything.
- flat screen tv'sThere has to be a way for manufacturer's to install a chip to disable the tv once it is stolen. This would virtually eliminate the theft problem of big screen tv's.
- Wonder What Shirley Franklin Has to Say??NOTHING ... AS USUAL??
The next mayor is going to have to take the gloves off on crime. Why is a business going to come to an area with rampant crime and decaying public schools?? Come on politicians -- start earning your KEEP!
If you cannot hack it, MOVE ON! - BurglarsIt doesn't matter where it is, thugs will break in anytime anyplace.
