Drug Busts in Cherokee County
(WSB Radio) Now it's Cherokee County's turn to bust Mexican drug runners.
"I hope we're making a dent," says Tommy Pinyan, Deputy Commander of the Cherokee County narcotics squad.
Eight suspects are in custody, charged with trafficking.
Pinyan tells WSB, police seized five pounds of methamphetamine, a pound and a half of cocaine and several weapons.
"We did located six handguns, so they did have access to weapons," Pinyan says. "Fortunately, we didn't come across any of their violent tendencies."
Police also confiscated $40,000 in cash.
The raid's were part of a three month long operation that took place nationwide.
