Johnson Endorses Kasim Reed
ATLANTA (AP) Second-term Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson has endorsed State Sen. Kasim Reed to be Atlanta's next mayor.
Johnson made the announcement on Monday. The Democrat represents the state's fourth congressional district, which includes parts of DeKalb, Rockdale and Gwinnett counties, and a portion of the city of Atlanta.
With about two weeks to go until the Nov. 3 general election, Reed is seen as among the frontrunners in the mayoral race along with city council President Lisa Borders and Atlanta Councilwoman Mary Norwood, who could become the city's first white mayor in a generation. The race is widely expected to go to a runoff.
