Repo Murder: Car Found
(WSB Radio/AP) -- Fulton County police have found the car that was at the center of a murder investigation.
The 2004 Ford Mustang belonging to 27-year-old Justin Moore was located around 9:30 p.m. Thursday behind an abandoned warehouse in the 4700 block of Aviation Boulevard in unincorporated Clayton County.
Moore is believed to the the gunman who killed a repo man and critically wounded another as they tried to repossess the car from his home on Milam Loop Road in south Fulton County.
Police spokesman Scott McBride says the two men had loaded the 2004 Mustang on a tow truck early Thursday morning when the car's owner began shooting at them.
27-year-old Brandon Thomas, of Woodstock, and 36-year-old Willie Thackston of Rydal, fled in the tow truck with the car attached, but the shooter followed them in another vehicle.
McBride says the shooter ran the tow truck off the road and shot the two men, killing Thomas and wounding Thackston, who was driving. The shooter then took the Mustang and drove away.
Thackston is listed in fair condition at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta.
Fulton officers chased Moore for several minutes on I-285 into Clayton County before breaking off the pursuit when it reached speeds in excess of 150 mph.
What others are saying
- an american hero?Patriot, I pray the day I get to repo a car from you and you try to shoot me. I do carry and I will shoot back. I'm considered a expert marksman and I will not miss.
- an American heroThe only thing Justin Moore did wrong was not finish the job on that second pice of garbage. Brandon choose to steal for a living and now there's one less thief in the world. As for his family put his kids in foster care with people who actualy have morals, and his wife can whore her self out a far more honorable job than being a repotheif.
- Willie ThackstonWillie is back in ICU. Where the hell are the police?? Why have they not found this guy!?!?!
- RealityHey Reality. Do you know something we dont know? How do you know it was only a V-6? Are you sure it wasnt a Shelby GT? Were you there?
- C MagregorHey C Macgregor. How about a little fact checking by you before YOU shoot off YOUR fat mouth.
If you had the slightest clue as to what you are talking about the reason we dont want contact with the people we are trying to repossess from are THEY LIKE TO COME OUT SHOOTING. Kinda like this you dumb***.
Secondly, The people who are stealing cars are PRETENDING to be repo men. Not actual repo men. By posting that link it only puts your complete ignorance on display for all see. If someone pretends to be a cop and commits a crime that mean that all cops are bad. According to you thats exactly what it means.
Also we do do it in the daytime. Not just nights. At my company alone we have agents on the road 24/7.
Stay out of conversations for which you have no clue as to what you are talking about. - Hope Justin Moore is put to death in a timely manner.First, let me say a few words to MacGregor; who in the hell steals a f__king car in a tow truck? MacGregor, not all repo men are scumbags, however, some of them may be ex-criminals, but that doesn't mean they should be killed for doing their job. MacGregor you should absolutely be ashamed of yourself for the comment you made. Another thing, I am a repo agent, I am also ex-law enforcement and I can guarantee you I am NOT a scumbag. Bet you wouldnt say that to my face.
I own a repossession agency in GA and I know it is a dangerous job, but it is a job that has to be done. I totally disagree with these repo companies that do not allow their agents to carry weapons. Who cares if the company gets sued because a repo agent shoots someone to save his own life.
I'm not bragging about anything, but myself and all of my agents are armed with a firearm, a 50,000 volt taser (the kind that law enforcement use), pepper spray and bullet proof armor. Had this been my company and my agents repossessing this vehicle, Mr. Justin Moore would be the one dead or at least wounded. All of my employees are licensed to carry everything they carry and fortunately we have never had to draw our weapon on anyone to date.
All of our hearts go out to the families of the deceased and critically injured agents
By the way; Georgia has no law stating that a repo agent cannot be armed. The insurance companies, however, say that we can't carry a weapon while repossessing a vehicle because of liability. Who cares about liability? As an owner of a repossession agency, I could careless about liability when it comes to my agents safety. Let them sue me, sue away all you want. Our lives are more important than material things and our agents have a legal right to protect themselves. - repofinder.combrowsed the website because I am shopping for a new car and it is 100% worthless. Maybe ever 150% worthless.
- Justin Moore knew it was a repossession.Willie I hope you're well. As a former employer of Willie Thaxton I want to take a moment and let him and his family know, we are thinking of you. I did not know Brandon, but he was to be in my office this morning filling out an application. Brandy if there is anything we can do for you and your babies please let us know. For the un-informed that want sit on your high horse and talk down on an industry that is necessary for the financial industry, Justin Moore knew without a shadow of a doubt that the vehicle was being repossessed because the agents went to the door and asked him if he wanted anything out of the vehicle. Justin Moore said no and slammed the door in there faces, and then came back out and started shooting. So don't give me that holier than thou crap about he thought his car was being stolen. You want to talk about how we are scum and vultures. If not for us you wouldn't be able to finance anything without paying ridiculous interest rates. With no recourse against the collateral, banks and other financial institutions would not be able to finance automobiles. Where would GMC Ford Toyota and these guys be if no one could finance a car? Enjoy the view from your high horse because that's what you would be taking to the welfare office to get your check.
- 150mph chase? It was a 2004 V6 Mustang.. it would go over 150mph if it was dropped out of a plane but not under it's own power. Thanks for the laugh though.
- Mel*loomisMel*loomis, I agree completely with every statement you made except for one. I bet C MacGregor doesn't even have a job to get paid, so your rhetorical question at the end is somewhat useless. Now, if they withheld his welfare check (or even more likely, if the place he frequently steals merchandise from went out of business,) then what would he do? Another thing, you stupid Liberals out there can try and call it what you want. STEALING IS STILL STEALING, KILLING IS STILL KILLING, and this Justin Moore guy is completely wrong.
- Repo Murder: Car FoundHe shot two guys just doing their job killing one of them so he could keep his car that evidentally he had not been making payments on only to loose it to the law now. SMART MOVE JUSTIN. You've lost the car & when caught your freedom. It's ashamed that innocent law abidding citizens willl now support you while you'll spend many years behind bars for this. All this over a 2004 Mustang. What a worthless piece of crap you are, your parents must be proud today. Maybe you will have the balls & do us all favor & turn that gun on yourself.
- They need to be politically correct!!You have to remember the headlines need to sugar coat so everyone can suck down these stories. I think it is dumb.
Why did Fulton County call off the chase is what I want to know. Helicopters? Other agencies? I don't get it.....another problem...not enough information about the hot stories. - What is repofinder? I must have missed that one.
- What the ???Couldn't agree with you more What the ???.
Pure and simple we have a problem that is out of control in this country. I want it there for I should have it - and I don't want to work for it.... god save us all! - Are you kidding me??CMacGregor:
Who in the hell do you think you are to say that these men DESERVED to get shot and killed?!?! You are a low life POS scumbag just like this deadbeat Justin Moore. I pray to God that the laws will change and repo men are allowed to carry firearms legally inside of commercial vehicles. That one little law would get rid of a whole lot of slime like yourself.
I have you know that the survivor is a very good friend of mine. he has a great father, a wonderful husband and wonderful friend and a hard worker. Who the hell does Justin Moore think he is to make that man's wife and children suffer the mental anguish and terror that they are going through at this time??
Who does he think he is taking a 27 year old man away from his wife and two children?
Anyone who thinks that this guy didn't KNOW they were coming for his Mustang is an IDIOT. The bank had been telling him for over 3 months to pay his car note. He received HUNDREDS of phone calls and letters. He KNEW they were coming and as far as I am concerned his actions equate to PRE - MEDITATED MURDER!!! - Justin MooreHey Justin, you scumbag, please do all of us a favor and pull that shotgun on the cops when they find you so they cant waste your worthless a$$ and save all of us the money that would be used to put you in prison for the rest of your sorry, miserable life. The only thing you are worth is the cost of whatever ammo is expended taking you out.
- RetardsHow about actually reading something before you open your fat mouth? Here is an example of what I was talking about:
http://www.click2houston.com/news/17047548/detail.html
GHP says that there is a tremendous number of car thefts happening in this way. If the repo was so legit, why not do it in the daytime or with the owner's knowledge?
By the way, I can find people, too, Repoman. You are welcome to bring your fat, cigarette smoking self to my house to discuss anything you like, whenever you want. Try to do it before your arteries harden. You may not like what you find, though. - Herb THey Herb, Repo men are vultures huh? Being a proud repoman for the past 15 years I will take it as a badge of honor to be called a "vulture". Beats the heck out of being a low-life deadbeat murderer who will pay for vacations, cell phones, parties, HD tv's, eating out, etc and not make their car payments. Judging from your comments you have a rather in depth knowledge of the "jackals who populate the repo industry". How many times have you had your car taken away? Let me guess It was the mean old banks fault. We "vultures" sit around and laugh at scum like you.
To the family of the slain agent all of our prayers and deepest condolences go out to you. To the family of the one that was injured we wish a speedy recovery and also extend our prayers. - Herb TAre you kidding? You are concerned about "mis-spelled" words when Justin Moore murders and C MacGregor condones it? Worthless, all three of you!
- repofinder is tastelessHas anyone else noticed that whenever a repossession goes bad, repofinder.com takes the opportunity to come into these comment sections and plug his desperate dumba** website? Pitiful BAD taste for the repossession industry. Pay advertising fees in the appropriate places and stop the free plugs!
- Angry Car Owner SoughtWhat a dirt bag this Justin Moore is and so is that Mcgregor. To chase down & shoot these two guys who were doing their jobs. He deserves a very long slow painful death. He had to know that the car would be repoed for not making the payments. Now when he is caught he will loose the car, his freedom & hopefully his life.
- VitriolWhile I do not agree with MacGregor's tone, I do think that Repo men are vultures. It is also noteworthy that while his post has no mis-spelled words, the detracting posts are full of them. I hate to see any loss of life, but the threats made here by "Repoman" should enlighten us all into the hearts of the jackals who populate the repo industry. Exactly what would you do if you DID find him "RepoMan"?
- WSB I'm surprisedYour headline "Angry Car Owner Sought" should be "Killer Car Owner Sought"
- This guy makes me madThis idiot is about to get his freedom repossessed. I feel sorry for these repo guys who have to deal with these fools. There are more repossessions than ever too (see: http://www.repofinder.com).
- RepomanThis is a shame. The license plate "AZZ" is right. There's a website that tracks repossessions at http://www.repofinder.com that is a pretty good bellwether of our economy. I wouldn't want to be a repo man.
- Learn the lawAs a believer in the Texas law cited by C Moron, I mean MacGregor, he touches on a valid point. If he really knew the law, he would know that it is still on the books from the days of cattle rusteling! Knowing one of the victims, his comments are completely uncalled for and I cant wait for justice (or the killer) to find him! You would change your tune if you had to talk to that man's mother as I did this morning!
- The man that was killed is one of my best friends husband. They have 3 kids, 2 that are very little. C MacGregor, I have no words for what you have said. Brandon, the man who was killed, was just doing his job to provide for his young family. Shame on you.
- What more can I say?!It amazing to me how guys like Justin lose the meaning of consequences of actions when upset. It's hard to believe the thought of a life sentence didn't cross his mind when he was considering shooting. Perhaps even a death sentence considering how he committed this crime.
As far as C MacGregor....what can I say that hasn't been said already?!! - Angrey Car Owner RE: MacGregorWhat an A**WIPE MacGregor is. 1st a car theif does not use a tow truck to steal vehicles in most cases. 2nd he chased the repo guys down & opened fire on them at a stop sign. 3rd he held the gun on a wounded man & made him unhook the car then he fled. That is the act a coward, scumbag, low life thug that should be handed over to the victims family. Also the car owner is no different than any other common thief because he has not amde his payments on this car. He had every right to have it repoed.
- To: C MacGregorC MacGregor, I believe you are not at large now and you do write your hateful comments from a secured place.
- RepoI recently had not one, but three vehicles repossessed. I could not pay the notes so I called the bank and the repossession guys came out and took them.I have plenty of guns but would not even consider shooting someone because of my own problems. I hope the punk that killed that guy kills himself to save some taxpayer dollars and my heart goes out to his family.
- To: C MacGregorC MacGregor, I believe you are not at large and you do write your hateful comments from behind thick bars.
- Murderous Car OwnerSounds like this car was lawfully seized. I can't afford a 2004 car, which is why I drive my 1996 Nissan Altima. C MacGregor, "me thinks thou dost protest too much." What do you drive that you can't afford??? Adjust your attitude and live within your means.
- repo thieves?c macgregor,
man what are you thinking? these guys are not scumbags, they are doing there job. if you cannot afford the car then you loose.what is so hard about that, let me guess you have paid for in full everything that you have got. yeah right.give the family of these victims your prayers and quit being such a soured minded person. - C MacGregor...you are garbage!those men have children and wives you piece of trash! I can't believe you are allowed to breath oxygen. If I were you, I'd not say that too loudly in public. Ya know, we repomen have some pretty amazing tools available to us....we find people for a living. Thinking the way you do, it's gonna be a long miserable life.
- @C MacGregor
Your thought process (which is shared by many) illustrates perfectly why our entire country is circling the bowl.
If you are making payments on a car THE CAR IS NOT YOURS! If you pawned the title THE CAR IS NOT YOURS! If someone else has the title for any reason THE CAR IS NOT YOURS! Someone else, be it a bank or finance company or title pawn place, owns the car and they are letting you use it as long as you PAY LIKE YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD. Repo guys don't just show up and take cars back. No doubt this guy was months late on his payments. No doubt he was notified that he had not kept up his end of the deal and paid as he promised and no doubt he was instructed to return the car THAT HE DID NOT OWN because he had not paid as he promised.
Regardless, you refer to the repo guys, who were just doing their legal job, as scumbags and have no problem at all with the deadbeat liar and now murderer.
I'm sure that you would have no problem if your employer just decided not to pay you this week, right? Tool - Pay your car note or lose it!C MacGregor's comments about the Repo Men give the impression that he believes that its ok to borrow money and not pay it back. THE CAR BELONGS TO THE FINANCE COMPANY until the debt owed on it is paid in full. The Repo men (a legimate but dangerous job) were acting as an agent of the bank in recovering THEIR PROPERTY.
The real THIEF here is the scumbag who didn't pay his bills, tried to buy a car he could not afford (any car that is financed is a car you cannot afford) and now killed someone who is protecting the bank's interest. The banks interest is to loan money to PEOPLE WHO WILL PAY THEIR BILLS and the mustang DRIVER (not "owner") did not pay his bills.
This Justin thug made a decision to purchase a shotgun and bullets instead of making his car payments. One wonders what else he spent money on over his responsibility to maintain his car payments? - Clayton CountyWhy do they give loans out to people in Clayton County. Seriously, I thing I would rather live in Pakistan that Clayton. They cant get anything right down there. Almost like the writer of every article on this website. Even spell checker on MS Office would do a better job.
- RE Angry Car Owner SoughtFolks,
My previous comments concerning the easily accessible engine mods were meant to explain comments by the commentators on WSB this morning indicating that the 150 mph number must have been a mistake...its not. I have owned several Mustangs, my last would cruise at 120+ mph in 4th gear, with overdrive still available - without power aides.
As for shooting someone over a car...I can build or buy another car, I can't resurrect a life, regardless of how low a profession I beleive that guy to have - when legal. Don't get me wrong, middle of the night repo is so close to legal theft as to blur the line.
My other concern with all this is that if you can't make the payment, why are you driving over your head both technically and fiscally? - mr MACThe true scumbags are those who think you don't have to honor your own words and commitments. Mr Mac obviously is a receptor of scumbags as he seems to have more respect for them than hard working humans.
- Angry Car Owner SoughtCMacGregor: Seriously? You blame the repo guys doing their job? Car thieves don't usually pull into your driveway and steal your car with a tow truck. He knew what was happening because he wasn't paying the payment.
- Thieves??Sorry but not paying for a car you have a loan on would make the person in possession of a car with the unpaid loan a Thief - Repo guys are just earning a living taking back possession of the car the loan holder owns.
- Moron"Ambushed? What would you think if a couple of scumbags were running off with your car in the middle of the night? Any reasonable person would assume it was being stolen. Repo men are lowlife vultures who shouldn't be given any sympathy or consideration at all."
I'll go ahead and assume you're mentally retarded, based upon the comments above. Did you read the article? No one drives around stealing cars with a tow truck. Do you attack the garbage man when they touch your trashcan, assuming they're stealing your things? God help you. - C MacGregorC MacGregor,
Are you kidding me? Justin Moore knew exactly that his car was being repossesed. He didn't make numerous payments and the bank tells you they are coming to get it. Scarey that people like you and Justin are out there. These poor guys were actually working so they could pay their bills and this scumbag Justin doesn't pay his bills and kills people, nice... Repo men should be carrying and defending themselves from scum like this!
Why in the world did cops back off of a chase with a murderer? Is that all I need to do to get away with crime, run? - Angry Car Owner SoughtKill a man over a car? This should be an automatic death penalty case when they catch this creep, no plea deals.
- 3rd Graders?I have come to the conclusion that this website is maintained by some small children as part of a project. All these mistakes CANNOT be because of an adult.
- Quality of the reportNothing against the content of the report where my hopes and prayers go out to the family of these victims I would like to know who wrote then who did not proofread this article. The spelling and grammatical errors should have been caught very easily. What is the world coming to when a simple report cannot be put together correctly by a news agency.
- Angry Car Owner SoughtFolks,
Any 4.6 liter Mustang can be made capable of operating at 150+ mph. A stock Mustang GT is already capable of 125+ mph. The simple addition of a NOS fogger (nitrous oxide kit) can add up to 250+ instant hp. Just as sevral aftermarket supercharger kits can bump the 4.6 V8 to 450-600 hp, making 150 mph easily attainable. One would hope such mods would be made in conjunction with other drive train, suspension, brake, and structural mods, but many don't think that deeply, nor do they get the professional training necessary to safely handle that kind of power. But from $600 to around $6000, the engine mods are readily available for those with a death wish. - Repo ThievesAmbushed? What would you think if a couple of scumbags were running off with your car in the middle of the night? Any reasonable person would assume it was being stolen. Repo men are lowlife vultures who shouldn't be given any sympathy or consideration at all. That's why Texas gives the benefit of doubt to the citizen. If this guy had ben in Texas, there would be no charges. To bad our law maker are bought & paid for by title-pawn, repo & bank interests. Goodbye Repo scumbags!
