Morehouse Bus Driver Dies
(WSB Radio) -- The driver of the charter bus that wrecked last month in Henry County, injuring several members of the Morehouse College Marching Band, has died.
63-year-old Ralph Marshall of Jonesboro was involved in an automobile accident Tuesday afternoon at the intersection of Sylvan Road and Arden Avenue in south Fulton County.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner's Office says Marshall was pronounced dead after he was taken to Grady Hospital in Atlanta. An autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death.
Marshall was an employee of Superior Transportation, an Atlanta-based charter bus company currently under investigation by the Georgia Public Service Commission and the U.S. Department of Transportation. Both agencies began looking into the company's background after an audit determined the carrier was not properly licensed and was uninsured.
The accident that injured the Morehouse band members occurred October 31st on I-75 in Henry County as Marshall was driving the charter bus to Albany for a football game between Morehouse and Albany State.
Initially, accident investigators believed Marshall lost control of the bus after he was cut off by another driver. Subsequent interviews with band members and other witnesses could not provide a consensus description of the car that allegedly caused the crash.

- Mr. Ralph MarshallWe were contracted to do some work for Superior Transportation back in 2004. We have yet to be paid for this work. We did however, receive several checks written by Steve McClardy that were all returned for NSF. I called one of the banks that one check had been written on and was told the account had been closed. We were advised to file a police report then. Mr. Marshall was always polite and as helpful as he could be, given the circumstances we were dealing with. Mr. Marshall was the only one that worked for Steve McClardy who COULD be trusted. I had a lot of respect for that man. I can not imagine the stress that man was under. He is at peace now....and the likes of Steve McClardy, all the lies and deceit will never burdon Ralph Marshall again! Now, I think I will file that police report and hopefully send McClardy BACK TO JAIL! I hope everyone else that was effected by McClardy does as well. That man is nothing but "POND SCUM"
- Daam! Mr. MarshallI feel sorry for him and his family!!! I used to work for Superior and they are crooked and will put you out there bad! Mr. Marshall was just hanging on until he retire; he had been with them a while! I want to THANK HIM for giving me a chance back in 2007 with no experience! He sent me on my first long haul....Miami! That was a long ass trip for me!!! I did it in 12 hours; took a church! RIP Mr. Marshall!!! Dam! Dam! Daam!
- bus driverThe speed limit on sylvan rd is only 35 mph. Maybe the guy should not have had a drivers license? Was he at fault? medical condition? Come on WSB, a little more background investigation whould have made a better story. Sounds as if someone is reading ap copy.
