(WSB Radio) -- The City of Atlanta has added $72 million to Georgia's bid for the NASCAR Hall of Fame bringing the total commitment to $102 million.

The financing package now includes $25 million previously committed by Governor Perdue in State support plus the original $5 million from the city plus a $15 million grant from the city's Tax Allocation District program and $62 million in city-backed bonds.

Charlotte's NASCAR bid still exceeds Atlanta's on paper but Sam Williams with the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce tells WSB's Jeff Dantre', "Part of Charlotte's money is to build a facility for their convention hall next door. If you take the convention hall portion out of Charlotte's bid, it's dead even with Atlanta's. We're building this solely for the purpose of NASCAR."

And officials behind Atlanta's bid say they believe NASCAR has not decided to locate its Hall of Fame in Charlotte...that the decision has not yet been made.
