(WSB Radio) -- Atlanta police are questioning the former girlfriend of a man who was fatally shot early Thursday morning in Buckhead

Investigators tells WSB's Jon Lewis, the victim was shot 7 times in the parking lot of the Rooms To Go store at the intersection of Peachtree and Piedmont shortly before 3 a.m.

The deadly shooting appears to have followed an argument at the Living Room nightclub, involving his former girlfriend.

After the victim left the club, "the ex- girlfriend followed in another car," according to police Sgt. Sam Norris.

"From what we're told the victim decided to stop and try to get everything straightened out and that';s where the shooting occurred," said Norris.

The names of the victims and his former girlfriend have not been released.

Investigators say there were four others with the ex- girlfriend at the time, but do not know who fired the shots.

The victim, described as in his mid-20's and from New York, was with a new girlfriend at the time of the shooting.

He'd just arrived in Atlanta last night.
