(WSB Radio) A Thursday night fire at a farm in west Cobb County gutted a barn and killed 14 horses.

Cobb County Fire Department spokesman Dan Dupree tells WSB's Mark Alewine neighbors near Westbrook Farms on Burnt Hickory Road called 9-1-1 around 11pm.

When firefighters got on the scene, the 60x100 foot metal building was fully involved. Soon after their arrival, the roof collapsed, trapping the horses inside.

The farm operators provided boarding services for multiple clients and Dupree says it's unclear how many of the horses belonged to the owners and how many were being housed for someone else.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. Dupree says there is no reason to believe it's anything other than accidental.
