(WSB Radio) -- Alpharetta Police are disputing claims of a woman who says police mistakenly ransacked her southwest Atlanta apartment.

Alpharetta City Councilman Doug DeRito tells WSB's Jeff Dantre that suspects in a series of car breakins at North Pointe Mall provided the location as their home address. "The search warrant was issued by a Fulton County Magistrate Judge. Atlanta City Police and Alpharetta Police went and attempted to conduct a search. They knocked on the door and received no reply and proceeded to force entry in the front door."

DeRito says no one was at home at the time but the apartment manager and the occupant of the apartment, who has been identified as Barbara Cross, arrived after entry was made.

DeRito says police apologized for the forced entry into the apartment but not for entering the apartment.

Cross, who says she feels "raped and violated," wants the matter investigated by an outside agency.
