(WSB Radio/AP) -- If you're sneezing and hacking and generally feeling miserable, you're not alone and here's the reason; today's pollen count is 5,937. Records kept by the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinc show that's the second highest level it has recorded. The record was April 12th, 1999, when the pollen count reached 6,013.
The yellow pine pollen is the most visible, but it's the pollen you can't see that causes breathing problems. The Allergy and Asthma Clinic says the major pollens causing the problems are oak, sweetgum, birch, sycamore and beech.
WSB Meteorologist David Chandley says clouds will increase this afternoon. But the chance of rain remains slim.
The pollen count is the amount of pollen particles measured within the last 24 hours in a cubic meter of air.
