(WSB Radio) -- A teacher at Hiram High School has been charged with sexual assault involving a student. The Paulding County Sheriff's Office Crimes Against Children Unit received allegations involving inappropriate contact between a 17-year-old female student and 37-year-old Darrel Johnson of Dallas, Ga.

WSB's Jennifer Griffies reports

Prior to the arrest, Mr. Johnson had resigned from the Paulding County School System citing unrelated issues.

Sgt. Brent Miller with the Paulding County Sheriff's Office said, "“We ask any other students or persons that may have had inappropriate contact with Mr. Johnson to please contact the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Crimes Against Children Unit.”
