"We elected not to renew Michael Vick's contract this year," Airtran spokesman Tad Hutchinson tells WSB's Veronica Waters.

"His contact was up in May and we elected not to renew it on May the 8th." The airline will build its Atlanta endorsement around Falcon Warrick Dunn.

As to why the airline made the decision, Hutchinson says, "It was clearly a business decision and we're going in a different direction. He served as a great spokesperson for Airtran Airways. When he was a spokesperson for Airtran Airways, he sold a tremendous number of tickets and we're very pleased with his performance as an endorser. He's still welcome to fly Airtran Airways and hopefully he will fly Airtran Airways but he just won't be a celebrity spokesperson this year. We wish him all the best and we hope he wins a Super Bowl for Atlanta."
