(WSB Radio) -- Athens-Clarke County police hope surveillance video from nearby businesses will help to identify a hit and run driver who killed a young mother in front of her 3-year-old son.

19-year-old NayaSheika Cooper was found in a ditch along U-S Highway 441, north of the Georgia 10 Loop, after she was struck from behind by what her son described as a red truck. The accident happened just after 9 p.m. Saturday.

Athens-Clarke County police Sgt. Don Eckert tells WSB the suspect vehicle should have moderate damage to the right front headlight and the passenger side door.

The victim's mother, Tracy Cooper, is demanding the person who was driving come forward. She said " we need justice and some kind of peace."

The accident happened less than 200 yards from the victim's home. Athens Crimestoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information that leads to an arrest in the case.
