Owner Lisa McNair tells Channel 2 Action News the victim was riding an attraction called the Swinger when chains securing the passenger compartment gave way as the ride was in motion.
McNair says the ride's top speed is about 25 miles per hour. And she says the chains on the ride were dersigned to support up to 600 pounds.
The unidentified victim, who weighed in excess of 200 pounds, suffered a cut to his head and was complaining of back pain when he was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville.
The ride was recently refurbished and had just been inspected when the carnival opened on Monday at the intersection of Highway 78 and Old Loganville Road.
Lisa McNair says the Swinger will remain closed until she's convinced it is safe to operate.

What others are saying
- Keeping It RealActually there was no malfuntion. I was their, the guy pulled off his seat chain before the ride stopped and tried to get out before it was fully stopped he was too overweight to try that and lost his balance, falling into the rail.
- mcnair accidenti personally know this man and he will no longer have a normal life everybone in his back is broken he has severe pain and is using a walker and will no longer be able to pick up more than 5lbs ever he will have a long recovery just to be able to walk again and there was a mistake in mcnair fair ground they did not have it inspected the day before it happened they were having it inspected the day after it happened this is a horrible thing and no one should be able to say it was cuts and scrapes when its major he almost lost his life if it would have been a child they would have lost there life they failed to mention that his head split from eyebrow to back of the scull and he almost lost his thumb his daughter was in the seat next to him tramatized her for life and the family thanks for those who do understand that this was not minor
- McNair AccidentThe man was injured far worse than the story indicates - the story makes it sound like it's minor cuts and back pain - try lacerations, major and broken vertbrae in the back - yeah, I'd say that would cause back pain. I think this is the owners trying to down play what was a serious accident -
- Don't make assumptions...The article actually says nothing about the man's injuries. It says he received a cut to his head, he was complaining of back pain when he was taken away, and he was taken to a hospital. The article does not indicate whether he was admitted, nor does it give any indication of any injuries sustained which were not immediately obvious to an untrained observer. This doesn't look like a cover-up, it looks like responsible reporting from a reporter who has not yet had the opportunity to follow up on the man's condition. Note also that this is a radio story, which also contributes to its brevity.
- cover upDig deeper - the man was injured FAR greater than what is being reported.
