PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) Police say a registered sex offender from Georgia has confessed to killing a 13-year-old Panama City girl in an area hotel room.
Police Capt. Robert Colbert says 33-year-old Mathew Caylor of Auburn, Ga., told investigators he killed Melinda Denise Hinson on Tuesday. The girl's body was found by hotel staff in Caylor's room on Thursday.
Colbert says the girl was living at the hotel with her family.
Caylor is in a Panama City jail today where he is being held on charges of murder, sexual battery and failing to register as a sexual offender.
Authorities are awaiting autopsy results before releasing how Hinson was killed.
What others are saying
- Sex OffenderWE, as a society, will NEVER give these perverts what they really deserve. An immediate execution is THE only cure for the rampant perverted actions of these creeps. However, until we open our eyes and begin taking action, this type of crap will continue. Our country has turned into idiots when it comes to allowing these things to continue on and on!
- GirlI feel the same way , just go ahead and shoot him in the head and put society out of their misery, he may get out again, he may claim insane and be out on the street again with no conviction. And where is the accountability of the justice system that should of mad sure he was signed up with the sherrifs dept for child molestation.
- GirlPut a bullet in his head and be done with it. No trial to pay for or keeping him alive in prison. I don't care why he did it.
- girlFry these wretches so the other ones will think twice before entertaining the idea of harming a child.
