(WSB Radio) -- Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney is threatening to sue the Atlanta Journal Constitution for libel, over an editorial that ran in the newspaper last weekend.

In a letter sent to the newspaper, McKinney argues that the facts in the editorial, written by editor Cynthia Tucker, were misstated.

The editorial, in part, described the alleged altercation with Capital Hill police. McKinney's attorney, J.M. Raffauff, said the column describes his client hitting a police officer with her cell phone, which McKinney denies.

The letter also takes issue with the suggestion by McKinney that President Bush knew about the September 11 terror attacks in advance.

McKinney demands an immediate retraction and that a "correction be accompanied by an editorial in which you specifically repudiate your libelous statements."
