(WSB Radio) (WSB Radio) Police in Snellville are hunting the suspected rapist who allegedly attacked a teenager last month as she visited friends.
WSB's Veronica Waters reports the 14-year-old girl was familiar with the young man known as "Mime," because he worked and sometimes stayed at the Snellville home where some of her friends lived. The afternoon of July 17, police say, the teen was over for a swim in the neighbors' pool when she was attacked.
"She was dragged into a bedroom by this suspect, and raped in this house," Snellville Police Detective Damon Harper tells WSB. The attack was reported the next day.
Mime is described as a Hispanic male in his late teens or early 20s, 5'10"-6' tall with an athletic build and a weight of 160-175 pounds. He also has a tendency to style his hair with gel."According to the victim, the suspect has attempted to kiss her before, but she turned him down," Harper says. "That's all we really know at this point. I don't know if they've had any kind of consensual relationship or not."
Interestingly, Harper says, he doesn't think the family who has hired Mime periodically has been entirely forthcoming with any information they can give police about his identity--and he tells WSB he doesn't know why that would be.
"It could be maybe they don't believe the victim; either that or the suspect is a very close friend or relative to the family," Harper says.
Mime is known to hang out in the Buford Highway area, says Harper.
